The 10km is more than just a double 5km—it’s a test of strategy, pacing, and heart. You’ve got to plan it right: go out too fast, and the last kilometers will make you pay. Go too slow, and you’ll be haunted by what-could-have-beens.

At Pending, we break down 10KM time categories five clear goals:

  • Sub-60:00 The top 43% of all 10KM runners. A great starting point. You've crossed the line from "I run sometimes" to "I’ve got goals."
  • Sub-50:00 The top 13%. This is where runners start getting serious about splits and pacing.
  • Sub-45:00 Hit this, and you're running with the top 5%. It’s all about control and commitment.
  • Sub-40:00 The top 2%. Sub-40:00 is legendary status in most running circles. This is pure speed and grit.
  • Sub-35:00 Top 1%. You’re not just running, you’re flying.
